The green solution to owning a teething puppy
Puppies and babies both go through the common teething phase. Puppy teeth come in around the first 2 to 3 weeks. These 28 small teeth will eventually be replaced by 42 permanent adult teeth, which happens when they are 5-6 months old.
A natural feeling for a puppy, who’s about 12 weeks old, is slight discomfort and pain to the mouth. This means your lovable ball of fur will be chewing on furniture, toys, biscuits, clothes, shoes, and even harmful objects to relieve the pain. Punishing your teething pup will not prevent them from chewing on things when you’re not around.
So to help your puppy make it through the teething phase without destroying your home, here’s a few creative and green ideas:
- Use a clean 100% cotton wash cloth, wet it thoroughly, ring it out, and then use a BPA free container to hold it in the fridge. Your pup will love this when chewing becomes an issue.
- Wet your finger with water or organic plain yogurt and massage the inside of your puppy’s gums. You’ll alleviate your pup’s discomfort and gain his/her trust for future dental care.
- Give your pup Ark Natural Breath-Less Brushless Toothpaste when more adult teeth start to show. This helps remove any bad odors and cleans his/her teeth when you don’t have time to brush them.
After using these tips, you can officially say you own a “green puppy”!
